Middlesex
County is the
largest county in the state of Massachusetts in
population (1,465,396 in 2000), and had the most
population growth in MA during the 1990's. A list of a
few of the more populated of its many cities, townships
and subdivisions, includes Arlington, Ayer, Belmont,
Burlington, Cambridge, East Pepperell, Everett,
Framingham, Lexington, Pinehurst, Reading, Shirley.
Somerville, Stoneham, Townsend, Wakefield, Waltham,
Watertown, West Concord, Wilmington, Winchester, and
Woburn.
Middlesex County has over 2,000
historical landmarks, including the Hasty Pudding
Club, and Harvard
University.

Anthony's Pewter and Gift Shop, will give a clue as
to its status among antique buyers worldwide.
The County seat, Cambridge, is the birthplace of higher
education in the United States.
Part of the metropolitan area known as
"Boston-Worcester-Lawrence-Lowell-Brockton,
MA-NH", Middlesex is also frequently combined with
"Boston-Worcester-Manchester MA-NH" for
statistical purposes. The population density of 1,790.1
per square mile ( 823.5 sq. miles area) has fostered a
cultural and historical mecca in this county.
Located in the New England section of the Northeast
United states, Middlesex is international in flavor,
